Remember you are not alone - domestic abuse can happen to anyone no matter your age, race, class, culture, disability, gender, sexuality or lifestyle.

Women’s groupwork programmes for domestic abuse survivors

Manchester Women’s Aid offer survivors of domestic violence and abuse groupwork support to rehabilitate alongside other survivors. We offer six different groups, some for women only and one where we work closely with children too.

Crèche is provided at some venues. Please note that groups do not run during school holidays.

Group 1 - Moving On

A 10-week programme, Moving On seeks to understand the various forms of abuse, identify possible signs of abuse in future relationships, educate on legal remedies and how to access them.

Group 2 - Freedom Programme

For women who are living with an abusive partner, Freedom Programme explores the different behaviours of abusive men, the effects of domestic abuse on mothers and their children, and healthy and non-violent relationships

Group 3 - Living Life to the Full

This health and wellbeing course looks at behaviours, understanding our thoughts and feelings, controlling anxiety and relaxation techniques.

Group 4 - Recovery Toolkit

This group helps anyone who has experienced domestic abuse and is in a position to develop lifestyle coping strategies. It looks at issues such as self esteem and wellbeing.

Group 5 - You and Me, Mum

This explores the effects of domestic abuse on women as mothers and on children and young people. Running alongside our childrens programme, Helping Hands, this looks as effective communication skills, healthy relationships and protective behaviours and strategies.

Group 6 - Helping Hands
